]]>The year is 1989. The well-known basketball team Chicago Bulls is playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the scoreboard shows 98-100, Chicago is losing.
Michael Jordan is desperate, there aren't many seconds left on the clock. Jordan then receives a pass when he is standing about five meters from the basket, with a quick glance at the clock he sees that there are only a few second left; the basketball legend takes the shot. Spectators hold their breath as the ball flies into the air while the sound of the "buzzer" wails across the venue. The shot hits, and the Chicago Bulls win the game 101-100.
This legendary throw will later become one of Jordan's most mentioned shots and is today called: "The shot". The shot helped establish Jordan's reputation as the global superstar he is today.
What shoes did the basketball legend wear then? Well, of course a pair of Jordan 4s.
The Air Jordan 4 was designed by Tinker Hatfield and released in 1989. Hatfield and Nike broke new ground with materials such as plastic and nubuck combined with new components that allowed the shoe to breathe better and increase comfort. This, combined with Michael Jordan's "The shot", gave the shoe a global spotlight, outside of the basketball world.
Today, the Jordan 4 is considered one of Nike Jordan's classics, and with them coming back with the upcoming Retro releases, we see how highly Nike values the legendary shoe.
Of our best sellers in 2022, two of the shoes were actually from the Jordan 4 model.
Jordan 4 Retro "Midnight Navy" & Jordan 4 Retro "Black Canvas"
We totally understand why. They are insanely good looking and some of the most stylish colors of all the Jordan 4 models.
]]>These abbreviations are used to describe different models. With these letters, you can then find out what kind of fit, design, how rare the sneakers are and more. Let me start by going over all of Nike's various terms.
GS - Grade School
The Grade School tag means they are made for those in elementary/middle school and are available in sizes EU40 and down. It means that the fit is slightly tighter, and that the design looks a little different from one of the same model that is not GS.
SB - Skateboarding
These sneakers are basically created for skateboarders and usually come with a thicker tongue and edges than regular models. This is to create a nicer and softer fit. A common model with the SB tag is the Nike Dunk Low.
SP - Special Project
Nike SP represents the highest quality shoes of the Nike models and is also awarded to special projects. Just as the name suggests.
SE - Special Edition
Special Edition, maybe sounds more fancy than it is. It actually happens that many of our best sellers are of this variety. Among other things, Jordan 1 "Grey Green" Mid
QS - Quickstrike
QS is the shoe that is rare and not released in a large set and only at selected stores that have a strong relationship with Nike. WE have, for example, the Nike SB Dunk Greatful Dead Low models that are both SB and QS.
HS - Hyperstrike
Hyperstrike are incredibly rare models, even rarer than QS. These models give Nike mainly to FNF (Friends and Family) of artists and celebrities. For example, the Nike Air Force 1 "Playstation", which was only released to Sony employees in 2006.
PRM - Premium
The premium models are usually created with exclusive and high-quality materials. For example like the Jordan 1 Elephant Print Low which is one of those models.
AND - Original
]]>In this DISECT episode, we dive deep into Jordan's latest Mid model to present the product's combo of colors, materials and style.
At first glance, we note a decisive color of white, combined with baby blue leather fabric on the toe, vamp and not least: the Swoosh.
In the halter top we also find a new material; a "travel-like" material reminiscent of the fabric we find on a fleece jacket, also, of course, in baby blue.
On both the heel and the collar, we have a gray suede that completes the shoe's color combo in a shy, but stylish, contrast.
On the tongue, we see proof that Air Jordan isn't stopping with its experimentation. In an airy, white mesh fabric wrapped in diagonal crosses.
The Jordan 1 "University Blue" Mid is a target image when it comes to making a simple shoe that can go with everything, while adding little details that elevate the shoe and keep it interesting.
The playfulness of materials is something I will always appreciate in Jordan and the Jordan 1 "University Blue" Mid is no exception. This sneaker will be a big seller.

]]>One of his hallmarks has become his design collaboration with Nike. In this post, we present some of his most popular sneakers.
First up is the shoe that gave the classic Air Force 1 design a new face: the Nike AF1 "Travis Scott AF100" Low.
The year is 2017. Nike launches, in celebration of the Air force 1's 35th anniversary, a collaboration with 5 designers who will create 5 own models of the white doja. The people are: Virgil Abloh, Acronym, Don C, Roc-A-Fella and Travis Scott.
The artist's composition becomes unique with the white fabric and off-white seams contrasting with a metal swoosh. On top of the shoelaces we also find each patch with the "Cactus Jack" and "Dead Smiley Face" logos in combination with each set of a pair of grills that we often see the artist wearing.
Next up is La Flame's Air Jordan model: Nike AJ1 "Fragment x Travis Scott" High.
With the AJ1 Royal model from 1985 as a blueprint, Travis Scott and Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, whose design entity goes by the name Fragment, set out to create a new addition to the Jordan 1 family. In 1985 the model is revived, 36 years later: Out comes one of Travis Scott's most famous Jordans.
As seen before, Scott likes to play with Nike's swoosh, this model will be no exception. The inverted swoosh gives the basketball shoe a unique look, to say the least. The off-white sole combines softly with the white leather. The color of the sole may also be a tribute to the 1985 model, in reference to how the soles of the older Jordan shoes often aged to an off-white/light yellow shade. In the tongue of the shoe we also find a "stash pocket". What one chooses to hide there is none of our business to say.
On the right heel we find Fragment's logo and on the left, Cactus Jack's Dead Smiley logo. The design is available in both a high-ankle and a low-ankle variant.
The rapper, entrepreneur and designer has, in his few years, made a splash in the fashion world. Travis Scott's unique color combinations and unexpected fabric materials always take us by storm. We at Merch patiently await the icon's future artwork…
]]>Stone Island is, like many others, an Italian brand, named after Joseph Conrad's short stories. The brand was founded by Massimo Osti in 1983. Stone Island became known early on in the market after they started using heavy stonewashed, tarpaulin-like fabric, also called Tela Stella.
Stone Island's kit with its signature black, green and yellow compass logo became a focal point of football culture around the UK and Europe. It wasn't until a collab between Supreme and Stone Island in 2014, with support from artist Drake, that Stone Island became well known on both sides of the Atlantic.
]]>Moncler is short for Monstier-de-Clermont, a village in the mountains near Grenoble in France. The first jackets were meant to protect workers from the cold, the jackets were worn over the workers' overalls while they worked.
The first to see Moncler's potential was the French Lionel Terray. The result was Moncler pour Lionel Terry.
In 2003, Moncler was acquired by the Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini who introduced the strategy of the global quilted jacket.
In 2020, Moncler bought the well-known brand Stone Island.
]]>Yeezy is a collab between Adidas and the rapper Kanye West. The first modell was actually Yeezy Boost 750, released in February 2015. During Yeezy Season 1, that was released in Oktober 2019, we saw sneakers aswell as clothing, those didn't really catch the eye of the audience. But the shoes became a hit.
Since the first release of Yeezy Boost 750 has Yeezy released sneakers such as 350, 500, 700, 950, Slide and Foam Runner.
We recommend when buying Yeezys and especially slides that you buy at least 2 sizes bigger than normal since they've got a really tight fit.
]]>As the second most popular shoe to debut in 1985, after the Air Jordan 1, the Dunk was never planned as a flagship model. Designed for NCAA athletes and their fans, the Dunk was an attempt to capitalize on America's collage leagues.
This was not the case as they quickly gained a life of their own, active in various subcultures. From this, the shoe has come in and out of the trends of the public.
Since 2020, everything has changed. Not only has the fashion world seen the shoe, thanks to the help of Off-White and Travis Scott collaborations, but the sister shoe, the SB Dunk has also become a hypebeast must-have.
